Club Soccer Uniforms, a Picture of Pride and Identity
Club soccer uniforms can make or unmake any soccer team. This does not mean that a uniform can win a soccer match but it does mean however, that a properly selected club soccer uniforms can have a tremendous impact on the team’s morale and performance.
A badly designed and badly conceptualized cheap soccer uniforms can be bad for the team members. Not only will they be demoralized because they are not proud of the uniform they are wearing but also it can have a big impact during the actual game or play itself.
Imagine having the club soccer uniforms being easily torn to pieces because it does not fit right or it was sewed and assembled haphazardly. It would cause much embarrassment to both the players as well as to its hundreds of supporters. This defect could also apply to the badges or logos and even the players’ numbers where it cannot be deciphered clearly.
This is clearly a major lapse on the team’s management’s judgment and decision making skills. This would surely lead to major repercussions like the team losing its games or the team losing major support from its fans and sponsors.
But this could be avoided in the first place. Below are some suggestions on how to make the perfect club soccer uniforms like the ones worn by the Spanish team in their Real Madrid uniforms or those worn by the Italians in their Italian League uniforms which are fit to be worn by champions.
• Carefully consider the team’s badge or logo. By having a clear idea as to the team’s official badge, logo and colors and its corresponding meanings or symbols the person in charge of designing the club soccer uniforms would have a deeper understanding and appreciation of what to suggest for its design and theme. There is the common mistake of many uniform designers to pattern the design to some famous soccer clubs and teams which does not necessarily reflect the true intent and idea of the team. There is no need to copy or imitate famous clubs like the German league soccer uniforms and make it as your own. It is important to be original in this case.
• Have the uniforms in dark and light versions. Just like in the olden days of black and white television where the uniforms of several sports team like in basketball or even in soccer, the team have two separate sets of uniforms. One is in light color or predominantly white and the other in dark color. The reason behind this is that people watching the games on their black and white TV would not be confused on what team is scoring or playing. The shades alone would also help the players identify their teammates on the field. By designing the traditional two sets of uniforms based on their shades would be another consideration. However, there is no need to make it pure white or pure black. The designer can be creative enough to incorporate the team’s dominant color scheme in the club soccer uniforms.
• Consider also the materials or the fabric of the uniform. Most modern club soccer uniforms are made from light synthetic material which does not stick to the body when it is wet. This is very much unlike the uniforms of the olden times where it is made from heavy materials which stick to the body when wet with sweat. This is rather uncomfortable on the part of the player.
By understanding the above considerations and factors the club soccer uniforms designers would have a more realistic feel to what should be incorporated in the uniforms’ design and look.
However, it is also a nice idea to get all the suggestions and ideas of all the stakeholders concerned like the team owner, the team management, the players as well as some ideas coming from the fans themselves. This process would be part of the brainstorming activity and in the end when everything has been said and done and the perfect club soccer uniforms have been accomplished and the next goal now would be to win the over-all championship.
